Specification Review
machine vision system integration
Resolve the acceptance basis for machine vision system integration before you select a supplier. The decision is whether the quoted station can show the smallest required defect on real parts at the planned conveyor speed, with a reject path that removes the same item. This page is a procurement dossier, not an engineering guarantee or a compliance certificate.
Decision dossier
Acceptance basis
- Acceptance basis: Design input
- Freeze the measurement method first: 2D contrast versus 3D height. Then freeze conveyor speed, because speed sets exposure time for 2D and profile spacing for a line-scan 3D head. List the real-part surfaces and orientations that must appear in the detection trial, including occluded features. Name the trigger, inspection point and reject mechanism on one drawing. State FAT and SAT language, spare parts and whether a second SKU must reuse the first recipe after changeover.
- Supplier answer
- The supplier must attach numbers to your motion: measurement range, profile spacing and encoder relationship at the actual speed, or exposure under the selected illumination including ambient light. They must say which surfaces they will trial and how a failing part is tracked to the bin. Connected load, footprint and PLC interface belong on the same sheet. Manufacturer tables that separate pixels, exposure and acquisition rate, or profile resolution and scan rate, are reference information only.
- Open deviation
- If the trial used only clean parts, the acceptance basis is incomplete. If the quote prices a camera without a reject path, integration is unfinished. If 2D pixel count is offered as proof of 3D height accuracy, treat that as a method change, not a minor option. Keep those deviations written until the buyer accepts a revised trial or a reduced scope.
